The Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa was alive with activity as it hosted its weekly Stableford tournament yesterday, sponsored by Mali Pest Control. Seventy golfers from various age groups participated in this one-day event, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition.
One of the participants, Alvin Nair, praised the atmosphere and the fine weather, which contributed to an enjoyable day of play. He noted a strong turnout from club members, emphasizing the significance of the social aspect of the tournament. “It’s pretty easy, because all the golfers play, and when we come back to the courthouse, it’s basically a friendship and social activities that follow,” Nair explained.
Nair also expressed support for young aspiring golfers, encouraging them to engage in tournaments like this and take up the sport. He highlighted the presence of junior members, stating that their participation is always welcomed and celebrated.
Looking ahead, the club is set to host the East vs West tournament today, attracting experienced golfers from across the nation for another exciting day on the links.
This ongoing commitment to inclusivity and community-building in the sport of golf bodes well for its future, particularly as more young players are inspired to join the game. The vibrant atmosphere at the Fiji Golf Club serves as a reminder of the importance of sports in fostering friendships and connections among people of all ages.
