Assistant Minister for Finance, Esrom Immanuel, recognized the significant contributions of 77 Gold Card members of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS), who were commended for their role in bolstering the economy. In the year 2024, these members accounted for an impressive 57 percent of FRCS’s total revenue, amounting to $1.7 billion.

During the event held at the FRCS office in Nadi, where the Renewal of the Gold Card and Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Memberships took place, Immanuel underscored the critical role of tax compliance in maintaining essential services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure. This gathering celebrated those businesses that have shown exceptional adherence to tax and customs regulations, greatly enhancing Fiji’s financial landscape.

The Assistant Minister reiterated FRCS’s dedication to recognizing businesses that maintain high compliance standards, while also ensuring that those who attempt to evade their tax responsibilities face appropriate consequences. He highlighted that fulfilling tax obligations is not merely a legal duty but a vital responsibility that contributes to the strength and prosperity of the nation.

Overall, this initiative showcases the positive impact of compliance on national revenue and the importance of supporting businesses that contribute responsibly to the economy. This commitment to accountability and recognition can foster a more sustainable financial future for Fiji.
