Goalkeeper Joela Buivanua delivered a standout performance as Nadi secured a goalless draw against defending champions Ba in their opening Group B match of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The match between the two western rivals lived up to its high expectations, showcasing both teams’ determination in the final fixture of Day 1. Ba, known as the Men in Black, featured a threatening lineup with Nabil Begg and Ratu Kaliova Dau leading the attack, generating numerous opportunities that were thwarted by Buivanua’s remarkable saves.

Nadi’s seasoned midfielder William Valentine effectively orchestrated the play, facilitating chances for younger teammates Ratu Tulivou and Eneriko Matau. Siotame Kubu and Ame Votoniu also contributed significantly to Nadi’s efforts throughout the match.

Ba’s coach, Timoci Seru, introduced younger players Isimeli Gavidi, Semesa Gadele, and Penaia Nagatalevu in the closing stages in an effort to maintain pressure in the attacking zone.

Following this match, Extra Supermarket sponsored Rewa tops Group B with 3 points, while RC Manubhai Ba and Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi each hold 1 point. Sigatoka Electric/Nadroga Auto Marine Upholstery Nadroga remains without any points.

Ba will face Nadroga tomorrow at 4 PM, followed by Rewa against Nadi at 6 PM.
