Goalkeeper Joela Buivanua delivered an outstanding performance as Nadi drew 0-0 with defending champions Ba in their opening Group B match of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
The anticipated match between the two western teams lived up to expectations, showcasing strong efforts from both sides in the final game of Day 1. Ba, featuring Nabil Begg and Ratu Kaliova Dau in attack, posed a significant threat and generated numerous scoring opportunities, but Buivanua was decisive in goal, making several crucial saves.
Midfielder William Valentine effectively orchestrated play for Nadi, providing support to young teammates Ratu Tulivou and Eneriko Matau on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, Siotame Kubu and Ame Votoniu also contributed significantly to the Jetsetters’ efforts.
In an attempt to boost their offensive strategy, Ba Coach Timoci Seru introduced younger players Isimeli Gavidi, Semesa Gadele, and Penaia Nagatalevu in the latter stages of the match.
Following this result, Rewa leads Group B with 3 points, while RC Manubhai Ba and Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi each secure 1 point. Sigatoka Electric/Nadroga Auto Marine Upholstery sits at the bottom without any points.
