Saula Waqa of Lautoka and John Orobulu from Rewa emerged as the top scorers in the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice-Cream Battle of the Giants held in Suva, each netting six goals during the five-day tournament.
Orobulu, a striker for the Solomon Islands national team, had an impressive performance, scoring four goals in Rewa’s dominant 8-1 victory over Nadroga in the group stages. He followed this with a brace in a 5-0 victory against Ba, which secured his team’s place in the semifinals.
Waqa also made significant contributions with two goals against Labasa in the group stages, and a critical single goal in Lautoka’s match against Navua helped lead his team to the semifinals. He continued his scoring streak with two goals in a thrilling 5-3 semifinal win over Rewa, and capped off his performances by scoring from the penalty spot in the final against Nadi.
