Saula Waqa from Lautoka and John Orobulu from Rewa emerged as the top scorers in the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice-Cream Battle of the Giants held in Suva. Each player netted 6 goals during the five-day tournament.
Orobulu, a national striker for the Solomon Islands, shone in Rewa’s group stage matches, scoring four goals in an 8-1 rout against Nadroga, followed by a brace in a decisive 5-0 win over Ba that secured their place in the semifinals.
Waqa also made significant contributions to Lautoka’s success, scoring twice against Labasa in the group stage and then adding another goal in their victory over Navua, which helped his team advance to the semifinals. He scored two goals in a 5-3 semifinal win over Rewa and converted a penalty in the final against Nadi.
In recognition of their achievements, both players received a shopping voucher worth $1000 each, sponsored by Extra Supermarket and Mirchi FM.
