World Rugby has announced the first five venues and dates for the HSBC Sevens World Series 2025. The confirmed host cities are Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, and Hong Kong, with additional locations to be revealed soon.
The series will begin at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai from November 30 to December 1, 2024, followed by the second round at DHL Stadium in Cape Town on December 7-8. Perth is set to return for the third round, scheduled for January 24-26, 2025, at HBF Park, while Vancouver will host the fourth round from February 21-23 at BC Place. The prestigious Hong Kong Sevens, considered a coveted event for Fiji, is confirmed for March 28-30.
Further details regarding the remaining 2025 events, including the grand final, will be announced at a later date. The HSBC Sevens World Series is committed to gender parity, as all rounds will include both men’s and women’s competitions, allowing female athletes equal opportunities to display their skills on international platforms. Both men’s and women’s teams will receive the same participation fees.
The 2025 season will feature three new teams: Kenya and Uruguay for the men, and China for the women, who earned their spots by winning the HSBC Sevens Challenger events in Madrid in 2024.
The women’s teams competing will include New Zealand, Australia, France, USA, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Spain, and China. The men’s teams will consist of Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, USA, Spain, Uruguay, and Kenya.
