FASANOC has expressed its excitement following the Commonwealth Games Federation’s announcement naming Glasgow as the host city for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Scheduled from July 23 to August 2, 2026, the Games will return to Glasgow after a successful edition in 2014.
The event will feature a compact program with 10 sports across four venues located within an eight-mile radius, ensuring convenience for both athletes and fans. FASANOC CEO Vanessa Kilner shared her enthusiasm regarding Fiji’s participation, stating, “We look forward to Fiji taking part in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. This event holds a special place in our sporting calendar. We’re excited about the opportunities it presents for our athletes and we anticipate another memorable Games experience.”
Fiji has a rich history in the Commonwealth Games, highlighted by Apolonia Vaivai’s bronze medal in weightlifting during the 2014 Glasgow Games. Overall, Fiji has earned four gold, seven silver, and 12 bronze medals across 17 Commonwealth Games participations.

– An estimated 3,000 athletes from around 74 Commonwealth countries and territories will compete.
– The sports program covers athletics, swimming, artistic gymnastics, track cycling, netball, weightlifting, boxing, judo, bowls, and 3×3 basketball, with para-sport events incorporated.
