Spread the love

Last week, the Fiji Girl Guides held a closing celebration to mark their centennial anniversary at Albert Park, with Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora, and Deputy PM Manoa Kamikamica in attendance. The theme for the event, “Culminating Changes, Honouring our Past, Inspiring our Future,” highlighted the organization’s mission to empower young women since its inception in the Old Capital.

The Girl Guides movement has continued to inspire and educate young girls within schools, fostering an environment that promotes personal growth, community service, and environmental care. The program emphasizes teaching girls about their rights and responsibilities, equipping them to advocate for themselves.

Rajnesh Ishwar Lingam from Nasinu praised the impact of the Girl Guides program, suggesting that it should be made compulsory for more girls to benefit from its empowering teachings. He commended the Kaila! newspaper for presenting this informative narrative, acknowledging its role in voicing the concerns and advancements of youth.

In a separate letter, Emosi Balei from Suva expressed concern over Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua’s comments regarding the dismissal of police officers for infidelity, questioning whether it undermines the moral standards expected in law enforcement.

In a reflective message, David Makenzie from Labasa expressed admiration for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s leadership, commending the promise of a strong and inclusive governance structure in Fiji.

The contributions and concerns raised in these letters demonstrate a community actively engaging with critical societal issues, showing hope and expectation for future leadership and empowerment for youth through initiatives like the Girl Guides. Such discussions can foster a brighter future, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard and respected, ultimately leading to positive change in society.
