Gibson: The Next Leader of Energy Fiji Limited?

Fatiaki Gibson is emerging as a strong candidate for the leadership position at Energy Fiji Limited (EFL), according to industry speculation. His name has been mentioned consistently over the past three years, indicating internal support for his potential appointment.

With 34 years of experience in energy project development, Mr. Gibson has established himself as an expert in the field. He previously served as the director on the board of Energy Fiji Limited, bringing a wealth of knowledge from his long tenure at the Fiji Electricity Authority, which he joined over 26 years ago before transitioning into consultancy.

Currently, Mr. Gibson is contributing to the Government of Vanuatu and the Asian Development Bank as a project advisor for the Vanuatu Energy Access Programme. He heads a skilled team from Stantec New Zealand, overseeing the design and supervision of projects that are already operational on Malekula and nearing completion on the Espiritu Santo HV line.

Furthermore, Mr. Gibson has a significant role in promoting private sector investment in renewable energy within the Pacific, having co-authored a guide for the International Finance Corporation.
