QORINIASI Bale is currently leading the points table of the Goodman Fielder International-sponsored (GFI) Summer Cup 2026, which kicked off its third round in Suva yesterday. Bale secured first place heading into the latest round with a total of 15 points from his second round performance, which included an impressive score of 43. In the first round, he had accumulated 30 points along with one point.
Trailing behind Bale is Mohammed Ishak, who recorded 3 points in the opening round and significantly improved his game with 13 points in the second round. Sitting in third place is Tom Managreve, who recorded eight points after round one and scored 39 in round two, where he earned eight points as well.
The tournament has attracted several notable golfers, including Fenton Lutunatabua, Lusiana Leqa, Gregory Browne, Jagat Ram, Barbara Naisara, Cecil Browne, Viliame Naupoto, and Filimone Jitoko, among others, who participated in the exciting third round.
Simultaneously, golf action was buzzing at the Fiji Golf Club on Friday with the GFI-sponsored Friday competition, which saw 18 participants. Russell Gibson emerged as the winner with a sharp score of 20 points, followed by Eric Browne with 18 points and Neil Hazelman who took third with 17 points.
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, the Stands Beer Run competition attracted 23 golfers. Alex Konrote claimed the top spot with 23 points, Anil Prasad made a notable return to finish second also with 23 points, while Sandeep Prasad rounded off the top three with a strong performance scoring 21 points.
The ongoing competition showcases a vibrant golf community and illustrates the spirited competition present within this year’s tournaments, promising an exciting remainder of the Summer Cup season.
