Athletics Fiji’s long-distance coach, Bola Tafou, has called on athletes to undertake serious training in preparation for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games next year. Tafou, who has a strong reputation for coaching elite athletes, including the renowned Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro, stressed the importance of starting preparations promptly, as time is limited.
He explained that it typically takes more than a year to help an athlete reach their peak performance level. Therefore, it is crucial for athletes to begin their training now if they aim to enhance their results compared to the 2023 Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands.
As part of his commitment to developing aspiring athletes, Tafou is currently conducting an Athletics Camp that will continue until January, providing young talents an opportunity to hone their skills. He also reassured athletes that the coaching staff is ready and willing to offer support and guidance throughout their training.
The 2025 Pacific Mini Games are set to take place in Koror, Palau, from June 29 to July 9, 2025, providing a significant platform for athletes to showcase their hard work and dedication.
In summary, Tafou’s call for immediate and serious training serves as an encouragement for athletes to stay focused and committed to their development, fostering hope that Fiji will present a strong team at the upcoming games. This proactive approach not only benefits individual athletes but also strengthens the country’s reputation in athletics on the regional stage.
