A lawyer connected to Fiji, Sylvan Singh, along with members of the Alameddine crime family, were recently involved in a shooting incident in Sydney that left the crime family head, Dawood Zakaria, hospitalized. The attack occurred on Church Street, Granville, as their vehicle halted at a traffic signal when shots were fired at them.

Dawood Zakaria, related to notorious criminal Masood Zakaria, has been identified as the primary target in this shooting, and he is currently in critical condition in the hospital, with authorities indicating he may not survive his injuries. Singh, a relatively new solicitor who was admitted to the bar in 2023, was also injured during the incident. Along with them in the car was Levi Vitukawalu, said to have been acting as a bodyguard.

The Alameddine crime family has been noted for their notorious involvement in criminal activities, particularly in gang-related conflicts in Western Sydney. The ongoing gangland war has resulted in previous attempts on Zakaria’s life as indicated by an earlier shooting incident in February. The involvement of multiple potential targets in this recent attack raises questions regarding the intentions of the assailant.

Moreover, the presence of other individuals in the vehicle during the incident, including Samimjan Azari and Vitukawalu, who faced firearm-related charges shortly thereafter, further complicates the investigation.

The broader implications of this violence highlight a troubling trend in gang-related crimes in Australia and the struggles faced by law enforcement in curbing such activities. The cases surrounding figures like Zakaria serve as reminders of the complex criminal networks that are often connected and the ongoing battle between law enforcement and organized crime.

Attention remains on how this latest incident may unfold within the legal system, and there remains hope that it could further motivate a targeted response against gang violence, promoting a sense of justice and safety within the communities affected.
