Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School’s girls division achieved a remarkable feat by successfully defending their title at the 2025 Fiji Finals, held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The squad showcased their dominance by securing an impressive medal tally: 20 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze. This victory placed them well ahead of their nearest competitors, Adi Cakobau School, which finished in second with 6 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals, while Natabua High School rounded out the top three with 6 gold, 1 silver, and 7 bronze.
Head coach Waliki Satakala expressed immense gratitude for the team’s achievement, highlighting the significance of this moment in their athletic journey. He reflected on the dedication required for the win, focusing on the athletes’ strict adherence to diet and training routines. “Our biggest challenge during training is the commitment of our athletes to maintain their local diets and training routines, while also taking care of their bodies outside of training,” Satakala noted.
Team captain Tirisiane Kiliraki voiced her pride in leading the team, considering the victory an honor and attributing their success to divine support. She emphasized the vital role of their support system, stating how much they appreciated the unwavering encouragement from their parents and teachers.
