Oceania Rugby has introduced the inaugural Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, working in partnership with World Rugby and receiving support from the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade via the PacificAus Sports program.
This innovative initiative aims to raise officiating standards and improve skills across the Oceania region. Richard Sapias, President of Oceania Rugby, stated that launching this camp in Fiji highlights the organization’s dedication to supporting match officials and fostering excellence in the sport.
The camp includes a series of rigorous training sessions, workshops, and discussions facilitated by experienced referees and educators from World Rugby. It provides match officials with a vital opportunity to refine their skills, stay updated on the latest developments in rugby officiating, and strengthen their connections within the community.
Frank Puletua, General Manager of Oceania Rugby, emphasized the camp’s importance in enhancing the capabilities of local officials. “We are making significant strides to develop and train our officials, aiming for higher standards and competencies,” he noted.
