The Gallagher Chiefs have strengthened their roster by adding significant experience to their forward pack with the signing of All Blacks XV and Crusaders hooker Brodie McAlister and Brumbies loose forward Jahrome Brown, who together bring 90 Super Rugby caps. They are among only five new players joining a team that boasts many seasoned members.
Head Coach Clayton McMillan emphasizes the importance of consistency and cohesion within the squad, stating that having players who have navigated both successes and challenges together enhances the team’s ability to create opportunities and improve in the upcoming season.
Additionally, the Gallagher Chiefs have offered full-time Super Rugby contracts for 2025 to World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year nominee Leroy Carter, Taranaki and All Blacks XV first-five Josh Jacomb, and Taranaki lock Fiti Sa. These players are already acquainted with the Gallagher Chiefs environment, with Carter and Jacomb having previously been part of the wider training squad, and Sa being on a National Development Contract for the past two years.
McMillan expressed his confidence in the team’s balance and depth, believing their combined experiences position them well to compete fiercely in the league. The 38-man squad is set to meet later this month to begin their preparations for the season ahead.
This strategic investment in both experienced players and promising talent signals the Gallagher Chiefs’ commitment to building a competitive and resilient team for the future. Fans can look forward to an exciting season as the squad unites to aim for success.
