The Gallagher Chiefs have strengthened their forward pack by adding 90 Super Rugby caps of experience to their roster. The team has welcomed Brodie McAlister, a hooker from the All Blacks XV and Crusaders, along with Jahrome Brown from the Brumbies. These two players are part of a limited group of new additions to an otherwise established Gallagher Chiefs lineup.

Head Coach Clayton McMillan emphasized the importance of continuity in the team’s selection. “There is a lot of consistency in the selection of the group,” he stated. He believes that cohesion is paramount, as players who have been through both victories and challenges together can leverage their shared experiences to seize new opportunities in the upcoming season.

Additionally, familiar players received full-time Super Rugby contracts for 2025, including Leroy Carter, who was nominated for the World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year, along with Josh Jacomb and Fiti Sa, both of whom have also been associated with the Gallagher Chiefs. The trio’s knowledge of the team’s culture and dynamics bodes well for the squad’s performance.

“I really love the team that we’ve got. I think it’s got great balance, great depth, and our collective experiences will put us in good stead to give the competition a real shake,” McMillan expressed, highlighting the team’s promising potential. The 38-man squad will come together later this month to kick off their preparations for the upcoming season.

In summary, the Gallagher Chiefs are gearing up for an exciting 2025 Super Rugby season with a blend of seasoned players and promising talents. Their strong emphasis on team cohesion and depth instills optimism as they aim for success in the competition ahead.
