The Gallagher Chiefs have added significant experience to their forward pack, signing All Blacks XV and Crusaders hooker Brodie McAlister, along with Brumbies loose forward Jahrome Brown. Together, they bring a combined 90 Super Rugby caps to the team.

These two players are part of a select group of five newcomers joining a Gallagher Chiefs squad that largely consists of established members. Head Coach Clayton McMillan emphasized the importance of consistency and cohesion within the team, noting that enduring partnerships on the field can enhance their performance in the upcoming season.

In addition to McAlister and Brown, the Chiefs have also awarded full-time Super Rugby contracts for 2025 to familiar faces: World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year nominee Leroy Carter, Taranaki and All Blacks XV first-five Josh Jacomb, and Taranaki lock Fiti Sa, who previously held a National Development Contract with the team.

McMillan expressed his confidence in the talent within the squad, stating that their blend of experience and depth positions them well to compete seriously in the league next season. The 38-man team is set to gather later this month for training in anticipation of the season ahead.

This announcement showcases the Gallagher Chiefs’ commitment to building a strong, cohesive team, which could lead to an exciting and competitive season in Super Rugby. The inclusion of experienced players alongside emerging talents bodes well for their prospects and reflects a strategic approach to team-building that could pay off in upcoming matches.
