The Gallagher Chiefs have strengthened their forward pack by adding experienced players, bringing a total of 90 Super Rugby caps into the team. All Blacks XV and Crusaders hooker Brodie McAlister and Brumbies loose forward Jahrome Brown are among the five new members of the squad, which largely consists of established players.
Gallagher Chiefs Head Coach Clayton McMillan emphasized the importance of consistency in team selection. He noted that having players who have been together through various challenges enhances cohesion, which in turn allows the team to capitalize on their collective experiences in the upcoming season.
In addition to the new signings, the Chiefs have secured full-time Super Rugby contracts for 2025 for promising talents Leroy Carter, Josh Jacomb, and Fiti Sa. All three players are already familiar with the Gallagher Chiefs framework, with Carter and Jacomb being former members of the wider training squad and Sa having participated on a National Development Contract (NDC) for the last two years.
McMillan expressed confidence in the team’s makeup, highlighting its great balance and depth. He believes that the shared experiences among players will position the Chiefs well to compete fiercely in the upcoming season. The 38-man squad is set to gather later this month to initiate their preparations.
This strategic move signifies the Gallagher Chiefs’ commitment to not only maintaining a strong foundation but also fostering new talent within the team. As they aim to build on past experiences and enhance their performance, fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead.
