The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team demonstrated resilience and determination by rebounding from an early pool match loss to claim victory in the finals. Despite suffering a defeat against 4R Electrical, Gabby’s Investment, and Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal with a score of 2-1, the team regrouped and pushed through to secure a spot in the finals.
Their journey continued positively as they overcame Nadi with a score of 4-2 in the semi-finals. In the decisive match against Lautoka, Suva showcased their skills and teamwork, winning decisively with a score of 6-2, successfully defending their championship title.
Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed pride in his team’s performance, noting that a loss in the pool stage served as a valuable lesson rather than a setback. He remarked that it ultimately prepared the players for success in the elimination rounds. “Once we came to the finals, we knew it was ours,” he added, emphasizing the team’s strong comeback mentality.
As they head into their December break, the team is already focused on their upcoming season, which kicks off in January.
In the women’s division, Rewa emerged victorious, finishing atop the points table. Both the champions from the men’s and women’s divisions were rewarded with $1,000 shopping vouchers from Extra Supermarket, while the runners-up received $500 vouchers.
This triumph and recognition highlight the spirit of competition in the local futsal community. With the upcoming season on the horizon, both teams can look forward to building on their successes and continuing to inspire future athletes.
