The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team demonstrated remarkable resilience despite an initial setback in their matches. After losing 2-1 to 4R Electrical, Gabby’s Investment, and Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal during the pool rounds, the team rallied back with determination to claim victory in the finals. They overcame Nadi with a score of 4-2 in the semi-finals and showcased their dominance by defeating Lautoka 6-2 in the finals, successfully defending their title.
Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed pride in his team’s performance, emphasizing that experiencing a loss in the pool stage can serve as a valuable lesson rather than a setback. “I’m really pleased with what the boys have achieved, especially after losing a pool match,” he stated, highlighting their ability to bounce back and deliver impressive results in elimination rounds. Nadan noted that the team felt confident heading into the finals, knowing they were capable of winning.
As the team prepares for a break until their new season begins in January, Nadan assured fans of a focused return to competition.
In parallel, the Rewa women’s team secured the championship title in the women’s division by finishing atop the points table. Both the men’s and women’s champion teams were rewarded with shopping vouchers worth $1,000 from Extra Supermarket, while the runners-up received $500 vouchers.
This tournament not only highlights the resilience and skill of the Suva futsal team but also brings a sense of excitement for future competitions. With the upcoming season, both teams have the opportunity to build on their successes and continue to inspire their supporters.
