The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team demonstrated remarkable resilience after experiencing a setback in the pool rounds of the tournament. Despite a loss to 4R Electrical, Gabby’s Investment, and Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal with a score of 2-1, the team rallied and secured their place in the finals.
In a spectacular turnaround, the Suva team triumphed over Nadi with a score of 4-2 in the semi-finals, followed by a decisive 6-2 victory against Lautoka in the final match, successfully defending their title. Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed pride in his team’s ability to bounce back after their initial defeat, emphasizing that it was preferable to lose earlier on rather than during the elimination rounds.
Nadan praised his players for their determination to regroup and focus, stating, “Once we came to the finals, we knew it was ours.” As the season winds down, the team looks ahead to their break in December, preparing to return in January with renewed energy and focus.
In the women’s division, Rewa claimed victory after finishing atop the points table. Both the men’s and women’s champion teams received shopping vouchers worth $1,000 from Extra Supermarket, while the runners-up were awarded $500 vouchers.
This story highlights not only the importance of resilience in sports but also the spirit of competition, as both teams celebrated their success and prepared for the future. The positive outcome serves as a reminder that setbacks can lead to greater achievements with hard work and determination.
