The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team demonstrated remarkable resilience in their recent tournament, shrugging off a pool match loss to secure their title. After a narrow defeat to the 4R Electrical Gabby’s Investment Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal team, which ended at 2-1, the squad regrouped effectively, showcasing their determination.
In the knockout stages, Suva made a strong comeback by defeating Nadi with a score of 4-2 in the semi-finals. They continued their winning streak, comfortably beating Lautoka 6-2 in the finals to defend their championship title. Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed pride in the team’s performance, highlighting the importance of learning from setbacks.
“Experiencing a loss in the pool rounds is preferable to faltering in the elimination stages,” Nadan reflected. “I’m genuinely pleased with what the boys achieved, especially after bouncing back from that earlier defeat. They showed tremendous character and delivered excellent results.”
Looking ahead, the team plans to take a break before returning in January ready to focus on the upcoming season.
In other tournament results, Rewa triumphed in the women’s division, finishing at the top of the standings. Both the men’s and women’s champions received shopping vouchers worth $1,000 from Extra Supermarket, while the runners-up were awarded $500 vouchers.
This tournament serves as a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and resilience, highlighting the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. The future looks bright for both the Suva and Rewa teams as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
