Krishnil Mudaliar was visibly emotional after suffering a disputed points decision loss to Junior Binnu Singh for the WBF Australasian featherweight title at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.
“This is daylight robbery, and this decision needs to be reviewed,” cried Mudaliar, a former Fiji bantamweight and super featherweight champion. The tall Suva boxer utilized his reach advantage, effectively landing jabs to keep Singh at a distance throughout the bout.
“The commission needs to reassess and declare the rightful winner. I should have been ahead on the scorecard. Singh never won any round; from the first to the eighth, they were all mine,” he asserted.
The judges’ scores were in favor of Singh, with Fatu Tuimanono scoring it 77-72, Jone Loloma 78-72, and Rahul Sami 77-75. Prior to the match, Mudaliar had emphasized the necessity for fairness from ring officials.
“I’m ready to fight Binnu again for the title. The commission should mandate a rematch,” he added.
When asked about his plans, Singh expressed his intent to face an international opponent next and dedicated his win to his late grandfather, Jaswant Singh, who passed away the previous Friday. “He wasn’t a boxer but was a huge motivator in my career. This victory is for him,” Singh remarked.
Singh mentioned that the fight unfolded according to their strategy and praised Mudaliar’s toughness. He also confirmed participation in a November event organized by Bluewater Boxing Promotion.
