A total of $900,000 has been designated for clean and safe drinking water projects in the villages of Niurua and Naqumu in Macuata. This announcement was made by Macuata provincial administrator Revoni Rakasa during a recent meeting of the Macuata Provincial Council held in Sasa Village on Friday.
Rakasa highlighted that the government has allocated an impressive $637 million to enhance infrastructure and services throughout the northern region. “The government’s primary focus is to ensure that residents in the Northern Division, including those in Macuata, have access to essential services,” he stated.
The funds will be directed toward vital projects, including maintenance and improvements in areas such as roads, water supply, communication, and market access. Rakasa pointed out that several projects have already been identified for funding allocation.
While acknowledging that assistance will be provided, he cautioned that it may take some time to see the results. He emphasized the government’s commitment by mentioning the significant investment of over $655 million made for disaster relief efforts in the previous year aimed at helping communities recover from natural calamities.
This initiative reflects a hopeful outlook for the communities in Macuata, as the funding not only addresses immediate needs but also supports long-term infrastructure improvements that can enhance quality of life and resilience against future challenges.
In summary, the government is taking significant steps to ensure that the essential services, particularly clean water access, are prioritized and addressed in the Macuata region, bringing hope to the affected villages.
