In a recent announcement, the government has earmarked a budget of $900,000 for clean and safe drinking water projects in the villages of Niurua and Naqumu within Macuata. This information was shared by the Macuata provincial administrator, Revoni Rakasa, during a meeting of the Macuata Provincial Council held at Sasa Village on Friday.

Rakesa highlighted the government’s broader commitment to enhancing infrastructure and services in the northern region, with a significant allocation of $637 million dedicated to this endeavor. He emphasized that the government is determined to ensure that residents of the Northern Division, including Macuata, have access to essential services.

The funds will target critical projects, including road maintenance, water supply improvements, communication upgrades, and market accessibility. Efforts are already underway to identify specific projects that will benefit from this financial support.

While it was noted that the government is committed to addressing the needs of the community, Rakesa cautioned that progress may take time. He pointed out that the government has demonstrated its dedication to supporting the population, particularly through disaster relief, where over $655 million was invested in recovery efforts following natural disasters last year.

This substantial investment in infrastructure and essential services marks a hopeful step forward for the communities in Macuata, promising to enhance the quality of life for residents and support long-term resilience against challenges.

Overall, the government’s proactive stance and commitment to infrastructure development shine a light of positivity and reassurance to those living in Macuata.
