A total of $900,000 has been allocated for clean and safe drinking water projects in the villages of Niurua and Naqumu, located in Macuata. This announcement was made by Macuata Provincial Administrator Revoni Rakasa during a presentation at the Macuata Provincial Council meeting held in Sasa Village.
Revoni Rakasa emphasized that the Government has set aside $637 million to enhance infrastructure and services in the northern region of Fiji, which includes Macuata. “The Government is committed to ensuring that residents of the Northern Division have access to essential services,” Mr. Rakasa stated.
These funds will be directed towards vital projects, including the maintenance of roads and improving water supply, communication systems, and market access. Though several projects have been earmarked for this funding, Mr. Rakasa noted that the execution of these initiatives may take some time.
He also highlighted the Government’s commitment to disaster recovery efforts, referring to the over $655 million spent on relief efforts last year to aid communities affected by natural disasters.
This investment in clean drinking water projects reflects a positive step towards improving the quality of life for the residents of Niurua and Naqumu, showcasing the Government’s determination to support the communities in the Northern Division.
In summary, the allocation of funds aims to ensure access to essential services and improve infrastructure, marking a significant commitment by the Government to enhance the well-being of its citizens in the Macuata region.
