The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced updated regulated prices for Unleaded Petrol (Motor Spirit), Premix, Kerosene, Diesel, and LPG products, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. These prices reflect the fuel imports made by companies in November 2024, following a one-month review period.
FCCC’s analysis indicates that the prices for Motor Spirit and Premix will remain stable, thanks to favorable international fuel pricing and freight rates, despite the strength of the US dollar. In contrast, costs for Kerosene and Diesel will see an increase due to rising international fuel prices and the stronger dollar. Additionally, LPG prices are also expected to rise as a result of higher Butane Contract Prices combined with greater international market demand.
FCCC has also stated that its Enforcement Team will actively monitor local compliance with these new prices at both wholesale and retail outlets. Consumers are encouraged to report any discrepancies in pricing, with FCCC teams available in various regions to address any issues.
The public is urged to stay informed about these changes by regularly checking with fuel outlets as the effective date approaches.
This proactive approach from the FCCC highlights their commitment to ensuring fair pricing in the fuel market while maintaining transparency for consumers. As fuel prices adjust, staying informed will empower consumers to make informed choices and report any irregularities they encounter.
