Families in Fiji will soon feel the financial pinch as the prices for fuel, gas, and kerosene are set to rise beginning tomorrow. The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced that the adjustments in local fuel and LPG prices for December 2024 reflect the refined fuel and Butane imports from October 2024.
The cost of unleaded fuel will rise from $2.62 to $2.67 per liter. Diesel will see an increase of 9 cents, bringing its price to $2.27 per liter, while the price of premix fuel will rise by 8 cents to $2.51 per liter. Kerosene will also experience a hike, increasing by 7 cents to reach $1.74 per liter.
In terms of gas, a 12kg cylinder will now cost $40.92 after a $10.1 increase, while the price for a 4.5kg gas cylinder will go up by 38 cents to $15.35. Additionally, LPG prices will increase by 8 cents, leading to a new price of $3.16.
According to the FCCC, these fuel price changes in Fiji are influenced by various factors including fluctuations in the Mean of Platts Singapore, international freight rates, and foreign exchange rates.
