Prices for kerosene, diesel, and gas in Fiji will increase effective tomorrow, as announced by the Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC). The latest pricing adjustments reflect fluctuations in international fuel markets and local conditions.

From tomorrow, the price of a litre of kerosene will rise by four cents to $1.78, while diesel will similarly increase by four cents to $2.31. Motor spirit and premix prices will remain stable at $2.67 and $2.51 per litre, respectively.

New gas prices include:
– 4.5kg cylinder: $15.53 (up 18 cents)
– 12kg cylinder: $41.42 (up 50 cents)
– Bulk gas: $3.20/kg (up four cents)
– Autogas: $2.25/litre (up three cents)

The rise in prices for kerosene and diesel has been attributed to unfavorable movements in the international refined fuel price, while a strengthened US dollar against the Fijian dollar contributed to the price adjustments. In contrast, gas price hikes were mainly due to an increase in the butane contract price.

Recent price reviews indicate ongoing changes in the energy market, prompting communities to consider more sustainable and energy-efficient alternatives in response to rising costs. The current adjustments serve as a reminder of the external economic pressures facing households, but they also present an opportunity for individuals and families to explore innovative energy solutions that could alleviate future burdens.

Overall, while these price increases pose challenges, they may encourage more conscious energy usage and the adoption of sustainable practices, ultimately benefiting both consumers and the environment.
