Fuel prices for unleaded petrol, diesel, and premix have seen a reduction as of today. Starting from the first of the month, the price of kerosene decreased from $1.79 to $1.67 per litre. Unleaded fuel now costs $2.62 per litre, down from $2.73, while diesel will be priced at $2.18 per litre, and premix has dropped from $2.55 to $2.43 per litre.

In contrast, the cost of a 4.5 kg gas cylinder has risen from $14.80 to $14.97, and a 12 kg cylinder will now be priced at $39.91.

Joel Abraham, CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC), stresses that ensuring affordability for Fijian families is a top priority for their organization. He highlights that these adjustments reflect the FCCC’s commitment to protecting consumers from the fluctuations of the global market.

Abraham emphasizes the awareness of the strain that rising costs can put on daily life, and through careful monitoring and regulatory actions, the FCCC aims to keep essential commodities, like fuel, affordable for everyone, especially for vulnerable groups. By maintaining stable prices, they not only assist in managing household budgets but also reaffirm their dedication to consumer welfare and equitable market practices.

This news brings a glimmer of hope for consumers as the drop in fuel prices could alleviate some financial pressure, particularly in light of rising living costs in many areas. Staying proactive about price adjustments is crucial for maintaining economic stability and consumer confidence.

Summary: Fuel prices for kerosene, unleaded petrol, diesel, and premix have decreased, providing relief to consumers, while gas cylinder prices have slightly increased. The FCCC remains committed to protecting consumer interests amid global market fluctuations.
