Fuel prices have seen a decrease as of today, providing relief to consumers. Kerosene prices have lowered from $1.79 to $1.67 per litre, while unleaded gasoline has dropped from $2.73 to $2.62 per litre. Diesel is now priced at $2.18 per litre, and premixed fuel has decreased from $2.55 to $2.43 per litre.

Conversely, the cost of gas cylinders has increased, with a 4.5kg cylinder rising from $14.80 to $14.97, and a 12kg cylinder now priced at $39.91.

CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, Joel Abraham, emphasized the organization’s commitment to maintaining affordable prices for Fijian families. He pointed out that these price adjustments are part of their ongoing efforts to shield consumers from global market fluctuations. Abraham acknowledged the financial strain rising costs can impose on everyday life and stated that through careful monitoring and regulatory action, the FCCC aims to keep essential fuels accessible, particularly for the most vulnerable populations.

This proactive approach not only supports household budgets but also reinforces the FCCC’s dedication to consumer welfare and maintaining fair market practices.

Overall, despite some price increases, the reduction in fuel costs is a positive development for consumers, contributing to a more manageable cost of living.
