The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced updated prices for fuel and LPG, which will take effect on September 1, 2024. The new prices are as follows:

For fuel:
– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

For LPG:
– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06/kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15/litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These changes are influenced by various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight rates, and exchange rate fluctuations based on imports from July 2024. The rise in motor spirit and premix prices, along with the fall in kerosene and diesel costs, are linked to changes in international pricing and currency exchange rates. The increases in LPG prices are mainly due to stable butane contract prices, higher freight costs, and a stronger US dollar compared to the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will oversee compliance with the new prices through regular inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
