Fuel and LPG Prices Surge: What You Need to Know for September 2024!

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will take effect on September 1. The revised prices are as follows:

Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)

Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)

Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)

Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

Changes to LPG prices include:

4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)

12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)

Bulk LPG: $3.06 per kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)

Autogas: $2.15 per litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These adjustments reflect various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight rates, and exchange rate fluctuations based on imports from July 2024. Specifically, increased expenses for motor spirit and premix, alongside reduced costs for kerosene and diesel, result from changes in international pricing and currency exchange rates. The hike in LPG prices is attributed to stable butane contract prices, increased freight costs, and a stronger US dollar against the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC plans to monitor compliance with these prices through inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
