Fuel and LPG Prices Set to Change in Fiji: What You Need to Know!

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced updated fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will take effect from September 1. The revised prices are as follows:

– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

In terms of LPG pricing, the changes include:

– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06/kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15/litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These adjustments are influenced by a variety of factors, including international refined fuel prices, shipping rates, and fluctuations in exchange rates based on imports from July 2024. Specifically, the rise in costs for motor spirit and premix, along with the decline in kerosene and diesel prices, results from changes in global pricing and currency exchanges. The increases in LPG prices are primarily due to steady butane contract costs, higher freight expenses, and a stronger US dollar relative to the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will oversee compliance with these new prices through inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
