Fuel and LPG Prices Rise in Fiji: What’s New for September 2024?

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices that will take effect from September 1, 2024. The revised prices are as follows:

Motor Spirit is now priced at $2.90, reflecting an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%. Premix will cost $2.72, up by $0.01 or 0.37%. Kerosene has decreased to $1.93, a drop of $0.02 or 1.03%, while diesel is now $2.50, down $0.02 or 0.79%.

Changes have also been made to LPG prices:

The price for a 4.5 Kg cylinder is now $14.86, an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%. The 12 Kg cylinder is priced at $39.63, increasing by $0.35 or 0.89%. Bulk LPG will cost $3.06 per kilogram, up $0.03 or 0.99%. Autogas prices have risen to $2.15 per litre, an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%.

These adjustments are influenced by various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight costs, and movements in exchange rates based on imports from July 2024. The rising costs for motor spirit and premix are linked to fluctuations in global prices and currency valuations. The increases in LPG prices are attributed to steady butane contract rates, elevated freight costs, and a stronger US dollar against the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will ensure compliance with these new prices through inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
