The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will take effect on September 1. The revised prices include:

– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

LPG prices have also been updated:

– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06/kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15/litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These adjustments are influenced by various factors, including international refined fuel prices, freight rates, and exchange rate fluctuations based on imports from July 2024. The rise in costs for motor spirit and premix, alongside the decrease in kerosene and diesel prices, is attributed to changes in international pricing and currency exchange. The LPG price increases are linked to stable butane contract prices, rising freight costs, and a stronger US dollar compared to the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will conduct inspections to ensure compliance with these new prices and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
