The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced new fuel and LPG prices for September 2024, which will take effect on September 1. The revised prices are as follows:

– Motor Spirit: $2.90 (an increase of $0.03 or 1.05%)
– Premix: $2.72 (an increase of $0.01 or 0.37%)
– Kerosene: $1.93 (a decrease of $0.02 or 1.03%)
– Diesel: $2.50 (a decrease of $0.02 or 0.79%)

In addition, there have been changes in LPG prices as well:

– 4.5 Kg Cylinder: $14.86 (an increase of $0.13 or 0.88%)
– 12 Kg Cylinder: $39.63 (an increase of $0.35 or 0.89%)
– Bulk LPG: $3.06/kg (an increase of $0.03 or 0.99%)
– Autogas: $2.15/litre (an increase of $0.03 or 1.42%)

These adjustments are influenced by international refined fuel prices, freight rates, and fluctuations in exchange rates based on imports from July 2024. The increases in motor spirit and premix prices, along with decreases in kerosene and diesel prices, are a result of changes in international pricing and currency exchange rates. The rise in LPG prices is linked to consistent butane contract prices, increased freight costs, and a stronger US dollar against the Fijian dollar.

The FCCC will oversee compliance with these new prices through inspections and encourages consumers to report any unfair practices.
