A recent shipment of wheels for locomotive cage bins imported from Australia turned out to be the wrong sizes. The Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, mentioned this issue while addressing sugarcane farmers at the Sugar Cane Growers Funds meeting yesterday.
Mr. Singh noted that these wheels have been returned to the manufacturer due to the sizing problem. “This presents a technical challenge that the Fiji Sugar Corporation is currently dealing with,” he stated.
Despite this setback, he announced the production of 40 new locomotive cage bins. Over the past few years, a total of 80 cage bins have been produced and distributed among the three mills in Fiji.
