Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller’s journey from Australia to Fiji has taken an exciting turn, as he joins the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, two years after visiting Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022. This moment marks a significant milestone in his rugby league career.
Miller, who is originally from Australia with familial roots in Savusavu, expressed his enthusiasm about training alongside senior players and NRL stars he has admired from a distance, including Tui Kamikamica from the Storm, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau. He appreciated coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity to represent the Bati, where he made his debut coming off the bench.
Reflecting on his experience, Miller shared, “I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji. It feels surreal to be training with such big names at just 19. I didn’t expect this opportunity to come so soon, and I’m thankful for it. It means a lot.”
During his time with the team, Miller has gained valuable insights into the team’s culture, noting the positive atmosphere of their camp, which features daily devotion sessions and high energy levels that make for an enjoyable experience.
Earlier this year, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, contributing to their 18-10 victory. His standout performance was recognized in September 2022 when he received the player’s player award and best and fairest distinctions at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during their junior representative awards night.
