Private Anthony Pesamino’s aspirations of becoming a veterinarian took an unforeseen turn when he discovered that Fiji National University had discontinued its veterinary program. Faced with disappointment and uncertainty about his future, Pesamino made the courageous decision to pursue a career in the military.

Reflecting on this significant change in direction, he shared, “It was a real change for me.” Despite initially feeling inexperienced, he faced the challenge head-on and successfully completed 18 months of intensive military training. Graduating from the FTG (military training ground in Nasinu), Private Pesamino acknowledged how transformative the experience has been for him.

“The discipline I learned during training has been a game changer for me,” he remarked. Throughout his training, he developed essential skills ranging from problem-solving to community engagement.
