Esther Kuva, a remarkable student from Nakasi High School, recently received the prestigious dux award, a moment filled with profound gratitude and joy. Overcoming significant challenges, including the loss of her mother to bone cancer last year, Esther is an inspiration to her family and peers. She credits her success to divine guidance and emphasizes the importance of her family’s support during difficult times.
Last year’s passing of her mother just before her Year 12 exams posed a substantial emotional hurdle for Esther, but she turned her grief into motivation to pursue a brighter future. “There have been a lot of obstacles, but I’m thankful that I’m still standing here,” she expressed, underscoring her resilience and faith in God.
During the school’s recent prize-giving ceremony, Esther was recognized with multiple accolades, including the Year 13 prize, leadership award, and the dux award, among others. She expressed her surprise at receiving these honors, reflecting on how it felt to have her hard work recognized, stating, “When my name was called, I was shocked, but I guess it’s all in God’s plan.”
Balancing her responsibilities as head girl alongside her academic commitments was not an easy task for Esther. However, through discipline and dedication, she managed to excel in both areas. Looking ahead, she aspires to enter the medical field, with aspirations to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or dentistry.
