From Teen Queen to Pageant Hopeful: Roselyn Sidal’s Inspiring Journey

Roselyn Clair Sidal, the 2017 Hibiscus Teen Queen, will return to the stage at the 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, this time vying for a title in the esteemed Queens Category.

Previously leaving a significant impact in her earlier participation, Sidal is proudly sponsored this year by Island Accommodation, a cozy lodging option situated in the heart of Suva.

The 23-year-old is nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism, having attended Bhawani Dayal Arya College. Her academic pursuits resonate deeply with her strong commitment to public advocacy and community service.

Sidal has been involved with the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Program since 2013, demonstrating her dedication to promoting equality both through her studies and in the community. Alongside her advocacy, she is passionate about empowering women and girls in sports, striving to ensure an equal playing field. She actively participates in multiple sports teams, including the Senior Suva Women’s soccer team, Nasinu Netball, and Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal.

Additionally, Sidal honors her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots through singing and dancing, reflecting her community’s diverse cultural tapestry.

With future aspirations that include establishing her own NGO focused on utilizing creative arts for advocacy, Sidal believes in the transformative power of creative expression to address community issues and inspire societal change.

As she competes in the Miss Hibiscus 2024 pageant, Roselyn’s journey benefits from the support of the festival’s Gold Sponsors, FMF and Vodafone.
