From Taste Buds to Triumph: A Baker’s Journey at the Miss Hibiscus Festival

Josese Cagica, raised in a food-loving family, developed a passion for cooking that led him to attain a culinary qualification and launch his own bakery. At the recent Miss Hibiscus Festival, Mr. Cagica seized the opportunity to employ young people from Nadera, enabling them to earn a viable income. He described his experience at the festival as a fresh undertaking, acknowledging the difficulties associated with establishing his brand.

“Participating in the Miss Hibiscus Festival provides a unique opportunity, especially as I introduce new pastries that could become popular in the area,” he stated.

Mr. Cagica believes that events like the Hibiscus Festival allow entrepreneurs like him to improve their market presence and representation. In addition to building his business, ‘The Cake Lab,’ he is dedicated to offering job opportunities to the youth in Nadera.

Inspired by the festival’s community spirit, contributing to local society is a key objective for him as he seeks to enhance his living standards and assist those he meets. He credits his parents, family, and friends for their unwavering support, which has been a source of motivation.

“I now receive local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa,” he noted.

Despite facing various challenges, Mr. Cagica is optimistic, viewing this stage of his journey as a blessing rather than a burden.
