Eroni Sarasau, a 19-year-old rugby player, has expressed no regrets about choosing to forgo his studies to focus on his rugby career. He is currently representing Fiji in the national Under-20 squad and hails from Lomati, Nabukelevu in Kadavu, with familial ties to Rotuma.

Sarasau, who previously attended Marist Brothers High School, faced a challenging decision between pursuing higher education or continuing his rugby journey. Ultimately, he chose to prioritize his rugby tours this year, acknowledging the difficulty of balancing both commitments. For the future, he aims to make a significant impact in 2025 with his team, expressing a desire to create history alongside his teammates.

He has been part of the Fiji Rugby Union High-Performance Unit for three years and plays for the Naitasiri Under-20 team. Inspired by his uncle Etonia Waqa, Sarasau aspires to secure a professional rugby contract and emphasizes the importance of mastering his basic skills in his position.

Sarasau admires fellow player Mesake Doge for his unique playing style and has appreciated the growth he has experienced while transitioning from high school to provincial rugby. He recognizes the challenge of stepping into the national rugby arena and is committed to physically and mentally preparing himself for success.

His journey began at the age of eight, and he credits his family, particularly his parents and grandparents in Kadavu, for their unwavering support throughout his sporting endeavors. Having completed his primary education in Kadavu, he later moved on to Ratu Kadavulevu School in Year 9, marking the continuation of his educational journey alongside his rugby aspirations.

Sarasau’s story reflects the dedication and passion young athletes often embody as they pursue their dreams. His focus on rugby and commitment to honing his skills show a promising future not only for him personally but for Fiji rugby as a whole.

In summary, Eroni Sarasau’s decision to prioritize rugby over immediate education highlights the passion and commitment of young athletes chasing their dreams. With his aspirations set on making a mark in 2025, he exemplifies the dedication needed for success in the competitive world of sports.
