From Struggles to Success: Rumaana’s Inspiring Graduation Journey

At 31, Rumaana Vualiku Sheikh’s journey from a small village in Ba to her graduation day illustrates her remarkable resilience and determination. As the eldest of five siblings raised by a single mother, Ms. Sheikh encountered numerous challenges throughout her path, but she remained focused on her aspirations.

Earning a Professional Diploma in Business Management is a significant achievement after returning to school a decade later, all while juggling night shifts with afternoon classes and battling exhaustion. Despite the obstacles, she maintained her dedication to completing her diploma.

“There were tough days,” she reflected. “But I kept reminding myself of why I started and pushed through.”

While working at Mindpearl and later at Fiji Airways, Ms. Sheikh successfully balanced her studies with her demanding job. Now, with the struggles behind her, she feels confident and accomplished, as her dream has finally materialized.

Her siblings traveled from the West to support and celebrate this significant milestone in her life. Ms. Sheikh’s story is not only about academic achievement but serves as a powerful testament to perseverance.

“My mum has always been my biggest supporter,” she shared. “Seeing her sacrifices made me want to succeed even more.”

With aspirations to further her education, potentially pursuing an MBA, Ms. Sheikh’s journey is far from over.
