Eseta Mauvu, a 45-year-old woman from Nasoki, Moala in Lau, is making strides in the livestock business, particularly in pig farming. Operating from her home in Delaikamaya, Makoi, Nasinu, she has grown her business since its inception in 2010, fueled by her ambition to support her family.

Eseta attributes her success to her strong faith. “I pray every morning for God to bless my efforts in this challenging environment,” she shared. Over the years, she has seen her business flourish, now raising 41 pigs, a significant increase from just two at the beginning. With her twelve children now involved in the business, it is clear that Eseta’s enterprise is not only a source of income but also a family affair.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, when supplies became harder to secure, Eseta’s determination did not wane. “I never let challenges discourage me; my dreams and desires keep pushing me forward,” she stated confidently, expressing her plans to enhance the piggery further.

Her operation continues to grow as she learns and adapts, emphasizing the importance of utilizing time wisely and maximizing the productivity of her land. By diversifying her livestock and engaging her children, Eseta is paving the way for a bright future not only for herself but also for her family, demonstrating resilience and perseverance in the face of obstacles.

Insights from previous articles highlight similar entrepreneurial spirit and the emphasis on community support in local businesses, showcasing a broader trend where individuals empower their families and communities through sustainable practices. We remain hopeful as more local farmers and business owners like Eseta embrace innovative methods to bolster their livelihoods and contribute to their communities.
