Tarfeeha Nuzhat, a 22-year-old student at the University of Fiji’s School of Business and Economics, recently received the prestigious title of Most Outstanding Management Student 2024 during the awards ceremony held at the Saweni campus in Lautoka. In addition to this honor, she was also awarded two Outstanding Awards in Marketing Management and Human Resources Management.
Nuzhat, who is on the verge of graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English Literary Arts and Management, credits her success to her family. She expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “What I have achieved is for them, as without them, I wouldn’t be here today on this platform.”
Emphasizing the importance of supporting others, she shared her belief in helping others succeed while trusting in her own journey by saying, “Adjusting someone else’s crown can never let yours slip.” Nuzhat’s message to those facing struggles is one of hope, urging resilience with, “never give up. Life has setbacks, but it also has comebacks. Dream big and be patient.”
Nuzhat highlighted how self-care and effective time management have been crucial to her academic success. Making a conscious effort to recharge and take breaks has allowed her to maintain focus and productivity amid the pressures of her coursework.
Though she faced personal challenges, such as moving from Suva to Lautoka and dealing with feelings of loneliness as an only child, Nuzhat remained committed to her educational goals. She acknowledged the difficulty of leaving behind friends and familiar surroundings but recognized that each challenge taught her valuable lessons in resilience and perseverance.
Her journey serves as an inspiring reminder that with determination and a strong support system, personal and academic challenges can be overcome. Nuzhat’s achievements not only shine a light on her hard work but also inspire others to pursue their dreams, despite the hurdles they may encounter.
