Netava Vukivuki has achieved a significant milestone by being awarded the prestigious Best All-Rounder at the Fiji Corrections Service passing-out ceremony held at the Naboro Corrections headquarters. This ceremony marked the culmination of a challenging 14-week training program that Vukivuki participated in along with 63 fellow recruits.
Throughout this rigorous training, Vukivuki distinguished himself by maintaining high standards of values and beliefs. Originally from Narata in Conua, Nadroga, the 33-year-old made a concerted effort toward self-improvement, sharing that the path was fraught with uncertainties, particularly at the outset of the program.
“It was difficult waking up early for training, but thanks to great mentors, I was able to stay focused,” Vukivuki reflected, attributing part of his determination to his role as the eldest sibling, which added responsibility for supporting his family financially. After receiving the award, he expressed relief, acknowledging the tough journey ahead in securing stable employment.
Through sheer determination and prayer, Vukivuki successfully navigated the recruitment process and now stands ready to contribute meaningfully to the corrections system. He is eager to share insights and ideas that may foster improved outcomes in his future role.
This motivational account aligns with insights shared by Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa during a recent Talanoa session for recruits, where he highlighted the importance of integrity and professionalism. Dr. Nakarawa encouraged the new officers to embrace forthcoming challenges and remain committed to their core values.
Vukivuki’s journey exemplifies perseverance and dedication, showcasing how hard work and determination can lead to remarkable achievements even amidst adversity. His story not only inspires personal growth but also underscores the positive impact one individual can have on their community, conveying hope for a better future.
