After dedicating six years to her studies, Avisaki Buirokotuiloma has successfully completed her Bachelor of Education program at the University of the South Pacific. Raised by supportive parents who contributed financially, Ms. Buirokotuiloma also took on part-time jobs to fund her education.
Walking across the graduation stage on Friday was a realization of her long-held dream. She acknowledged that securing sufficient financial resources posed a significant challenge throughout her journey. “At times, the thought of giving up crossed my mind, but my parents’ support and encouragement were my biggest motivators,” she shared. She expressed deep gratitude for the continuous prayers from family and relatives, indicating their support was vital to her success.
Despite facing numerous hardships, Ms. Buirokotuiloma remained steadfast in her pursuit of education. She recognized that juggling her studies with home responsibilities was not easy, yet having access to the right information and support proved to be crucial.
Hailing from Navuniyasi in Naitasiri, her aspiration of becoming a teacher is now within reach. She has always envisioned a career in the classroom, and that vision is beginning to manifest. “With this degree, I will be able to secure a stable job and contribute to my family,” she stated, adding that it is never too late to achieve one’s dreams and expressing her happiness at finally accomplishing her goal.
